Belvedere Turnout

Had a wonderful time at the Belvedere Holiday Event this past Saturday! For my first show ever, it was a success and I had such a good time. The hard work I put into every piece, and the overall gathering itself was worth every second.

The best part was allowing people to view my creations and watching their eyes widen as they gazed over my work. I had great feedback from everyone there and I learned that there is nothing more I love than getting to explain to people the background story of the piece they've selected to purchase.
Moving forward, I can't wait to do more.

And so the transformation begins

When I sat down with one of my good friends for happy hour about 9 months I was overcome with the determination during our conversation that I was going to pursue Jewelry (with his help of course). The only way I can describe it is that it suddenly felt right, and it still does.

The main purpose of my old website was to showcase, not sell. When friends, family, people I didn't know would contact me and say “Hey why don’t you sell” or “Is this for sale” I would get hesitant. However with the help from my friends, and looking around my room which is basically my very own jewelry store, I figured it’s time.

I'll be a jewelry vendor at the Belvedere Holiday Market Event, Saturday December 7th. This is something that I couldn't even consider a few months ago. But now, I’m excited to be a part of this and take my first step which will help me to continue to do more events. What I’m really excited about is being able to meet and engage with costumers right in front of me, and allow them to try on my jewelry and find what best fits them. I'll be bringing my pliers to do on site customization's. If you love it, I want you to have it, and I want it to fit just right.

So I’m excited, I’m nervous, but mostly I’m ready. I still have a lot to do, create, and plan for, but like I've said, everything in moderation.

First

Where to begin? Or perhaps I have already begun. Although this is my first attempt at blogging for the purpose of my jewelry, it is not my first attempt at jewelry itself. If you've been directed here from my Instagram, thank you for following my journey!

I'll begin by saying from a young age I had a fascination with jewelry. I enjoyed using my hands to take old jewelry apart only to put my own creations back together. I somehow learned how to be creative with the material I had laying around my house. This was when assorted beads were first strung together, baked clay became painted beads and pendants, my dad’s beer bottle caps became bracelets along with hammered down pendants, magazines dipped in glue became rolled up beads, and when wire was first wrapped into necklaces.
All my jewelry creations, supplies, passion, and ideas were left at home when I ventured off to college. However time away and my overall experience was a stepping stone that helped grant me the ability to create the jewelry passion for Ability by Alyssa that I now have today.

I received my degree in Advertising, Public Relations, and Marketing from Towson University which has helped shape me into the creative, business minded person I am today. Ever since I graduated college I entered a world wind of unexpected experiences. All of which have brought me to the place I am today, and today is great day to start blogging.
